The OneBusAway five-year strategic plan includes the establishment of a non-profit foundation to oversee the project and the establishment of a sustainable funding stream to support full-time project staff. In the meantime, though, there are project-wide expenses for servers, domain name registration, and – when additional resources are available – to support graduate students who work on the project.  (Note that all commercial OneBusAway deployments are supported directly by public transit agencies.)
